Why This Site Exists
When I was studying to become a licensed amateur radio operator, I discovered a monthly magazine called 73. It was packed with stories and information that helped me learn and grow — practical advice, technical know-how, and a real sense of what this hobby could be. Sadly, 73 has long been out of print — which is part of where this site’s name comes from.
This site will probably never reach the scale or reach of that beloved magazine. But it’s my hope that it can carry a little of that same spirit forward — not just as a source of information, but as a source of inspiration too.
Rocket City 73 is a hub for amateur radio, Meshtastic, and MeshCore in Huntsville and the surrounding Tennessee Valley — nets and frequencies, local events, mesh node builds, and interviews with the hams and experimenters who make this community what it is.
Whether you’ve been licensed for decades or just found out what a “node” is yesterday, there’s a place for you here.
